Proposed backpacking trip, 125.5 miles, 8 days...
Travel Day #1, July 2, 2009 - Jeff will drive 390 miles or so, and drop food and water off at Scott Mountain Summit and Etna Summit.
Then we'll drop off the car in Mt. Shasta and Jeff's brother will take us to the trailhead.
Travel DAy #9 - At the end of the trip we take public transportation back to Mt. Shasta and the car.

The last water of the day is at 1543.9. We'll need to drink up, and carry enough to last the night and morning, and the first six miles on day 2.

Good water all day long - never more than three miles apart during first half and five miles apart second half of day. Jeff will leave a couple gallons of water at Scott Mountain Summit. Camp at meadow where there is a spring fed creeklet. 1576.9

Day 5 July 7. 1591.4 – 1607 - Pick up food at Etna Summit, for three days, 50 miles, (1606.3) and 3 gallons of water. Camp a mile from the summit. (CAMP #5)
There is no water for 10 miles after Etna Summit. Jeff will drop off four or five gallons of water for that night and the first eight or nine miles the next morning. Or we can spend the night at Ruffey Lake, 1604.6 milepost, and a half mile off the trail. That adds four miles to the next days hike.
