Proposed backpacking trip, 89 miles, June 14 - June 28, 14 days...
On June 13 Dave finds his way to Santa Rosa. Or he flies to Redding and rents a car for the two weeks, or rents one in Portland and meets Jeff at Seiad, where they drop off a car and drive to Scott Mountain Summit. . Regardless, Jeff & Dave begin hiking at Scott Summit June 14. At the end of the trip Dave either drives the car to Portland or Jeff drops him off in Dunsmuir on June 28th to catch the June 29th train to Portland
If we drive from Santa Rosa, we'll drop the car off in Seiad and take public transportation to Weed and hire a cab to take us to Scott Mountain Summit.
The trip is organized to have a lot of short days and/or a couple layover days. 6 and a half miles a day average. 7.2 mpd if we take two rest days. There are two rest days scheduled, but not marked anwhere.
June 15 - 1572.4 to 1581.7 to a swath of alders. 9.3 miles
Day 3 June 16 - 1581.7 to 1589 - Dry Camp, pick up water at 1585, 7.3 miles

June 23 - 1628.9 - 1635.7 at Paradise Lake Upper Sky Lake to Paradise Lake - 8.2 miles
P3 Food drop at either Paradise Lake area or near the Paradise lake trailhead.
From Interstate 5 in Yreka take the Highway 3 exit at the
south end of town. Take Highway 3 west to Fort Jones, in Scott Valley. Turn
right onto River Road and proceed west, following the course of the Scott River.
After several miles, turn left, crossing of the Scott River on the Indian Scotty
bridge. Proceed past the Indian Scotty campground. The road narrows but remains
paved, eventually coming to a dead end at the Loverís Camp campground and
Other trailheads, including the route to the PCT at Paradise Lake are located off of the road from Indian Scotty.

June 25 - 1641.3 to 1648.8 Grider Creek at Footbridge, 7.5 miles all downhill
June 26 - 1648.8 to 1655.6 - End of Trip at Grider Creek Campground 6.8 miles
